What We Do
1) Based on the information you provide to us via email, we'll provide you with a quote to fill out a completed energy calculation.
2) What we need from you is building size, composition of the walls, roof, and fenestration. This is typically achieved by you supplying PDF's of the architectural set of drawings. Additionally, the Code requires information on the HVAC equipment. A set of PDF's of the mechanical drawings will usually contain the necessary information.
3) We enter everything into the software and generate the forms and send them back to you as PDF's via email. The package includes the input and output reports...everything needed to include with your drawings to take to the permit office.
Commercial Projects
Commercial, industrial, and retail space will require the EnergyGauge FlaCom software. This is software that engineers and architects use to model the energy efficiency of the building. The software is available from EnergyGauge© Summit. FloridaEnergyCalcs.com always uses the latest version of EnergyGauge© Summit.
This windows-based version of Florida code compliance using detailed DOE 2.1E simulation for Method A and Method B compliance software for 5th Edition Code (aka 2014). Software shows compliance with the Florida Energy Code for commercial buildings effective since June 15, 2015.
The final report is a Form 506-2014 and it will show that your project meets the energy efficiency requirements of the Code.

There are two methods of compliance.
1) Method A, the Whole Building Performance Method. This is a computer-based energy code budget method which may be used for determining the compliance of all proposed designs or
2) Method B, the Building Prescriptive Method. This is a prescriptive methodology that is allowed for shell buildings, renovations, change of occupancy, limited or special use buildings and building system changeouts.
Residential Projects
Single-family houses and townhouses will require the use of FlaRes software. The software shows Florida Energy Code compliance and Florida Home Energy Rating System (HERS) calculations. It uses the widely-accepted DOE 2.1-E hourly building energy simulation algorithms to simulate energy use and provides a report of the estimated annual energy consumption.
The final report is a Form 405-14 and it will show that your design meets the energy efficiency requirements of the Code.
